I have new to me a 07.5 Ram 2500, that was purchased full deleted with mini maxx installed. Recently experienced a WCM failure or SKREEM failure. Disconnected battery, wait 30 sec, then reconnected and restart. Being about 2 degrees, blowing snow, when this happened, not something I want to repeat often.
So the questions, the module is way expensive, can this be replaced at home? I realize there may be some key programming issues and not sure if the new module can be programmed for existing keys at home or dealership required. Trying to avoid those morons without becoming one myself. Since the truck is deleted with a programmer, does this have to be returned to stock program before sending it to dealer for new module? I have read some having to reflash the PCM because of screwing up the WCM module install. Or do I need to just get use to disconnecting the battery or figure out what fuse is for the WCM and pull it?
I have search and found the modules run from $350 to $500, plus overprice dealership labor and risk of screwing up programs. Looking for better options.
