a local dealer (Royal Gate dodge) had a new mega cab sitting at the rv show this weekend.

Its funny, the wife and i had just finished a talk about going to Utah with the RV next year and how the kids would handle 1300 miles in our quad cab. i look accross the parking lot and about stroked out when i saw it. :D

I think she's growing on the idea, but i still have'nt to talked her out of her Magnum :D

I'll be calling Tom (Tomeygun) when its time to buy though. They wanted 52K for it. 6 spd loaded with sun roof and DVD in a sand/tanish color.

My son has a 04. 5 with 2 little kids... this is off subject but he purchased a DVD player with 2 displays which he hangs from the headrests on the front seat... . each kid gets their own headset and a display to watch... . He drops in a movie and heads down the road... . and the kids are happy.....

$52K asking price?? :--)

They didn't happen to have the window sticker on it did they?? I'd bet the stick is around $47K, but Tomeygun should definently be able to hook you up for much less.

Did you sit in that beast and what did you think??

I sat in the truck Sunday, I put the drivers seat all the way back then got in the back and you cant believe all the room you have and I'm 6'4". That being said the price is enough to make you make do with what you have, Don

That and the fact that you can't get a long bed.

That and the fact that you can't get a dually.

We do just fine in our Quad Cab (all five of us). We did the DVD player for the head rests (under $300). We have the fun of driving around in a truck that's nearly all ours.

The best part of all this fun?

It's a Cummins!

I know, that's got nothing to do with it... .

2 3500 SLT's

I sat in two pretty plain, but nice 3500 4x4 SLT's at the local dealers. They are nice and roomy, but will have to come down before I give up the old 99 for one of them.

They both sitckered for 46,500,I don't see them coming down enough for a while! I figure they will still be wanting about 5-6 grand more than the same truck with quad cab.

Very expensive, but I think they did get the extra room this time.

I am curious how the view is to the side when sitting in the back seat. It seemed from pictures I've seen the wide C pillar would restrict your vision somewhat. Vaughn

You need to come shop in Colorado. I have never seen a SLT go for $46,500, :--) I can barely find a LARAMIE for that price and then you get the discount on top of that. SLT loaded should be about $41-42k then the discount so about $35-36k tops.

We have the dual DVD system in our truck now. the back seats are just too stuffy for anything longer than 4-5 hours. the kids (3 of them) are all still in car seats and their little legs are crammed between their seat and the back of the front seats. I'm a wheel hugger too. i drive with my seat pretty far forward.

i dont think the C pillar is a problem the back seat is not in behind it, there is just storage area back there.

$52 was the window sticker and that was the price he wanted. I didnt talk serious about price with them as with anything new they think they are gold. he was proud of the fact that they had the first to the area. i couldnt care less. I want the lowest priced to the area. they are making more everyday now :D I bought the first Hemi Magnum to the area too but i didnt pay out the nose for it. I have friends to thank for that.

my only thought was the tires looked a bit small for the size of the truck. I think they would look awesome with something in the 305 range. a 265 is just too small for that much body area.

I'll be installing a Kore system w/ 35" tires as soon as I get mine (most likely a late '06 with some juicy rebates)

Longbed MC

Four wheeler was talking about the new cab and why they didn't offer a longbed with the MC. They said if they did it would be over 23Ft long! Try and park that at your local shopping mall, much less fit it in your garage. Imagine swingin that beoch through a drive through.

23Ft!! A full 2 FT longer than an International CXT!!! (21. 5 ft) Too big for your average joe/jane IMHO. Better come standard with backup alarm. :-laf

Now, in a 4500/5500 series with chassis cab frame... That'd be a real long distance hauler!

Is this a good price?

Sounds pretty good, Honestly all dealer should be around the same on an 05 models because of the EMPLOYEE discount for everyone thing

So your dealer should be able to show you the invoice, Look next to the EP and then deduct off rebates (Farm Bureau is OK to use as well... )

Any ?'s, let me know

Ideally that's how it should be.

I went truck shopping with my buddy, he was going to lay down for a Dodge. The 5-star dealer we went to would not show us the invoices, only show us the difference between their employee plus pricing and their price with the dealer added markup. When we wanted to compare a Laramie to a SLT, they told him it was $500, but again, no paperwork to back it up.

We finally had enough and walked out. We figured out what their scam was. They were adding their dealer markup back into the EPP+ price, bringing the price back up over invoice.

We left and he ended up buying a Ford. He swore he would never look at a Dodge again. Between the slimy sales tactics and my experiences with local service departments, I know I won't buy another one locally (but I will buy another Cummins). I already do all my own service.
