IDEA! in order to minimize "downtime", I'm thinking of buying a new fuel-guage sender, BOMBing it in accordance with that Johnson(?) guy's pictorial instructions, installing it, and then BOMBing the old one... Why? you ask? 1: like I said, minimize the downtime by doing a quick (for me, that's anything less than overnite #ad
) swap when it's ready... 2: the new one was quoted $53 (dealer in LV #ad
)
Then, I could sell/ship my used/ BOMBED one to one of you for say, $25. Then you could do the fast swap, BOMB your old one, post availability here on the 'board, recoup your $25 and, theoretically, within 10 years, all 5000 of us could read an accurate gas guage, while only having to contribute $53 to a parts guy... ... . good idea, or has my brain's timing gear slipped?---rich

rich,good idea. I go a step farther though. Go on down to your local Dodge dealer and ask for the used senders,at the rate those things go out most dealers probibly get at least 10 a week. Tell them it's for your kids'science project. Then you can bomb them and sell for $40 each. I'd buy one.

wow-my buddy in Washington wants me to be an internet "ontapanoor"... I could be a "green" envirocompany by "recycling" those deals... . I'll call the Dodge place's "service" dep'ts tomorrow... . hmmmmm something to think about... rich

got an email forwarded to me by illflem that he rec'd from a Don Broadhead in Texas... says for $3 and a used sender, can do the repair even more simply than the "linked" instructions that you find back at the forum's main page... I don't know how to "cut/paste" practically anything, much less carry an e-message over here to let you read in its "pristine" condition... . BTW- "Moderator"... will you move this whole thread over to the mudflap forum, since it seems like that would be better..... rich
