after i had my 887 pump installed with the hx35/14 turbo the truck ran amazing, all but the low end. when i installed the s300 the bottom end still hasnt come up and and now i can hit 1400+* in no time with alot of smoke even after adjusting the plate back and the star wheel. could my injectors be getting lazy on me with my new fueling and all those miles??

There are a lot of different “size” S300 turbos. If you have a larger one and/or a relatively large (internally) exhaust housing, it will be slow to spool up, as you have noted on your truck. A smaller exhaust housing may help, and bigger injectors will also help spool the turbo.

thanks for the reply, i was begining to feel like everybody thought i was and idiot. the part number on the turbo is 174430, and from what i gathered last night on this forum, it seems to be the baby ot the s300 family (damn). I e-mailed piers and they said there is no upgrade like the hx family that they are aware of, may have to just buy a larger variant or. . . an ht3b and some piping for twins maybe?

I'll always be here 'cause I'm not giving up my strong, dependable, simple truck!!

By simple I am talking about the lack of ""failure waiting to happen"" electronics.

If you have the smaller of the S300s it would build boost at lower rpm than a larger s300 turbo. You mite want to go to smaller exhaust housing which probably won't help your egts so twins mite be a good idea.

Send it to High Tech Turbo. They can make it whatever size you want.

A 62/65/12,13,or14 would be nice with what you have.

The 12 and 14 are cast iron turbine housings and the 13 is the new Stainless Steel housing.
