Hello

Just wanted to let everyone know that the rubber weather strip on the lower door had me concerned, because it stays wet under the rubber. If it stays wet all the time of coarse it will accelerate corrosion (rust). I removed the rubber weather stripping from all doors. The results have been good, now that area can dry out on its own. Give it a try I think you all will agree with me, and maybe our doors will last longer.

I agree that getting water behind there is a problem. My solution was to coat the area beneath the gasket with petroleum jelly. That eliminated the water problem, but created the problem of road grime collecting under there. So now I periodically wipe under there with a rag and give it a good shot of silicone spray. Actually, I periodically silicone spray all my weatherstripping. Repels water and keeps the rubber conditioned (I think it does, anyway). :)
