Flying "J" Going Bankrupt!

Buying fuel in bulk

I often have various relatively small spare parts, accessories, etc. , that really need a good protective and moisture proof covering. Most recent of those, was the spare ECM I obtained for my '02 truck. We recently also obtained a vacuum sealing food storage gadget - so I figured anything strong and capable of sealing and water-proof storage of food inside a deep freezer, should work well for other stuff as well - so here's what I have done for my spare ECM:

If some of you other guys also have similar stuff that you'd like to provide secure long-term weather proof protection for, and also have one of these vacuum food packer devices, give it a try! ;):)

Hmmm, and the vacuum would also draw out moisture to an extent... just like an AC system evacuator.

Nice idea Gary!

Great idea, Gary.

I wonder if inserting one of those moisture absorbing devices that you can find in some vitamin bottles, etc. , might help, also.

Most likely - I usually have a few of those around, so adding them to stuff especially moisture sensitive is probably a good idea.

The vacuum gadgets would be good for stuff the more serious hikers and rapids-runners do too - food packets, medicine, matches and such - the plastic material comes in tube-like material, and 4 inch and 11 inch widths are most comme - length is whatever you cut off for the stuff you want wrapped, so pretty decent flexibility of uses.

I worked with packaging moisture sensitive items at my last job. The desiccant pouches or cans are only good for so much moisture removal. By the time they deal with the volume of the container they are placed in, they don't really absorb any more. When you get those fresh from the manufacturer they come in an air tight container and you have to use them quick before they start filling up. Sure, having one is probably better than not if you have a lot of moisture, but I think there would be very little after you vacuumed out all the air.
