Hi, I saw a lot of information on weatherstripping on a search as far as where to buy from, prices, etc. Question is on my truck, the wind howls through the doors like crazy, it will drive you nuts in the cab. The strips look fine, its not cut up or anything, just not making a tight seal obviously. Is this normal? Ive never been in a ram that has had this issue. It seems like from the inside, I can stick my fingers up between the door and the strip pretty easily, not making a good seal. Will buying new weatherstrip correct the problem?

That doesn't sound normal.

Fom the outside of he truck, does the door appear aligned and flush with the rest of the body?

It's possible the door simply needs to be adjusted to fit closer to the opening, or the hinges could be worn. If you feel attempting an adjustment is beyond your capabilities (it can be a bit tricky to get just right when working alone), take it to a good body shop.

Best regards,

John L.

If you or a body shop attempts to adjust the doors, don't try or allow someone adjust the doors by bending the upper door frame. Adjust the doors by making the adjustments to the hinges. If the hinges are worn, replace them first. There was an article in a TDR magazine several years ago by TDR member sag2 about how to adjust the doors on 2nd/3rd generation truck cabs.

ok, thanks, that makes a lot of sense. The driver and passenger front doors do appear to sit slightly lower than the rear doors when looking at them from the top, bottom looks fine though, so something must need to be brought in on the top hinge, I'll look at it today. I'll do a search on how to do the adjustment, if its something I cant do I'll take it to a body shop. I was bummed thinking I was gonna have to spend a few hundred in weatherstripping when there are a few other maintenance issues that need adressed, looks like I may not have to now.

Try lifting the rear of the door. If it moves up and down the hinge pins need replacing, a hinge adjustment would be a lot more work and stop gap at best. Not saying the hinge pins are a piece of cake, but not bad if you have a cherry picker or hoist of some kind. The doors are heavy.
