The entire public website has now been moved to the new server and the domain updates should be done on all the of the DNS servers. As far as I know there was no lost data in moving over the remaining database driven applications (classifieds, links, events, reader's rigs, and the travel companion) - which was completed over the last couple of days. If you have any problems with those applications please email rpatton@ix.netcom.com and we'll do our best to take care of them. A few mistakes were made in the transition but hopefully they were minor enough that you didn't notice them or at the least they didn't stop you from getting the information you desired. There have been several problems with the co-location facility or with the internet infrastructure as well as the problems we've had, hopefully we're past all of those!

The website is currently running on the database server (1 of 2 servers purchased to run the site) - which is our fall back position in case one of the servers goes down. As of right now this server has been up and running for 6 days 8 hrs with no reboots. There was an attempt to place the web server back in the host facility today on a test basis but it locked up within minutes - it is on it's way back to the manufacturer to be repaired tomorrow. As it is, running the entire website on the one server the peak load has been 1. 06 with 2. 00 being fully loaded with 2 CPU's and that was a one time isolated case - usually the load is below . 5 . Once the second server is online we'll be loafing along.

One thing that was completed during the move is that all of the areas of the website with the exception of the current travel companion now use a consistent username and password with what you use in the forums. Very soon we'll be adding new features instead of chasing our tails around just keeping the site up. The first one should be online within days which is a new travel companion which will be database driven and allow you to input your data consistent with what was published in issue #36. You'll be then able to search on any of the fields as you wish. In addition, the travel companion will be printed periodically and send out with the magazine so you can have a hard copy to take on the road with you. Once that is up and running the existing travel companion will go away which is why we didn't spend time on integrating the usernames and password with the current travel companion.

Thanks again for your continued patience during the transition period from us leasing everything from a provider to owning our own servers, co-locating them with someone else, changing operating systems, moving the software, etc, etc. It's been a trying month or so for the TDR staff but we are close to the end of it. We know that it has been an extremely trying period for you as well.

You guys are simply fantastic! We appreciate ALL of your hard work and efforts. I know at times it seemed like a daunting task, but I'm sure it will be well worth it. Thank you again!!!
