Well, now that things seems to be settling down with the new servers, I want to take a minute to thank you for all of the support and patience you've shown us over the past few months as we've struggled with hardware/software upgrades. Now that things are setting down, it is time to communicate some changes that have been made to the TDR Website.
For those of you who are not aware, Ken (our current Webmaster) owns and operates his own very active/very large website as well as mail-order truck parts business. He was a true blessing to us when we found outselves without a webmaster a couple of years ago. Ken stepped in and literally saved our butts. Well, his business has grown beyond his expectations and about 3 - 4 weeks ago, it became nearly impossible for him to get everything done that was required of his businesses as well as our rather sizeable site conversion. Se we had to find a way to provide him with some relief.
We were fortunate to have Steve St. Laurent available to step in. About a month ago, he took over the server conversion as well as the many other technical upgrades recently made to (and still required of) the new servers/website. And he too has performed beyond my most hopeful expectation.
I want to sincerely thank Ken for everything he has done, and I am sure will continue to do, for our site. While he will not have to handle our day-to-day issues, he has agreed to help out when Steve and I are not available and to remain available for technical consulting as needed.
I also want to sincerely thank Steve for stepping in and working untold hours during this conversion. He has done a great job and he has tolerated my "non-technical, rather ignorant at times" questions and requests for training. And he has a long "wish list" of site improvements we hope to make when (and if) we ever recover from the economic impact of this project (ouch!! much more expensive than planned!!).
Regarding remaining open items on our server conversion, here are some additional things we're working on:
- Final set up of mail accounts on the new server.
- Set up of e-commerce software on the new server to allow for more streamlined/effective new subscription/renewal processing.
- Additional backup equipment installed on the new servers.
- Set up of additional forums on the TDR Discussion Forums - we're looking at the addition of a "newbie forum" (for first-time diesel truck owners), an off-roading forum, and we're evaluating how a "Rig Spotted" forum might work.
If you see other things that need to be fixed/enhanced/added, do not hesitate to e-mail me at: rpatton@ix.netcom.com.
Thank you once again for your continued support and patience.
