2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission wee little bugger seems to stick (brake lights)

in all this cold (low 40's) and darkness I noticed my brake lights stayed on this morning when I got out of the truck at work. I technically adjusted (whacked) the pedal and they went off. since the book is at home, any thoughts, suggestions, (other than to buy a bigger hammer)?

The book indicates the switch is self adjusting by pulling back on the brake pedal after installing switch?? Maybe the pedal is not returning all the way? bg

Got brake lights?

I had the same trouble. Drove my buddy nuts when following me to the beach. Brake lights would stay on. Looked under the dash,pushed the brake pedal forward,bent the little bugger back and wham,all fixed. Not real heavy duty under there so I would only use about a 6-8 oz. hammer... LOL I used my hand. Just my $. 02

The fixes sound funny, but the situation is really not a laughing matter.

Those with an AT will soon realize the TC lockup clutch does not lock when the brake light operate. The PCM picks up that signal and cuts the lock-up circuit. If the switch is intermittent, the TC clutch will pop in and out as the brake switch cycles.
