I have a confession.

Although I've done about half of all service on both my '98 and now my '06, there is one item that has escaped my attention. I can't for the life of me see the weep hole on my water pump. I've tried mirrors and flashlights but there just doesn't seem to be a way to see around the serp. belt and other hardware to find the hole. I even removed the fender liner today to see if that helped.

Am I missing something?

You won't see it, it's drilled in the casting and comes out right above the timing cover , I'll try and get a pic of my old one but don't think there is any way to see it on the truck

my original wp didnt have a weep hole. i have seen a few others without them. i have also sen a few with them. probably depends on the supplier at the time yours was built

Hmm, the stock on on mine did, couldnt find my old one that replaced yesterday but jumped on google and found a pic of one, the one in the pic is upside down so you see the hole on the top but when installed its on the bottom

Thanks for the info, especially for the picture. If I can't find it now, I guess I just won't find it at all. Now I know where to look. Or at least where to feel for it.

If it has one, it will be on the bottom. My '92 had one as did my '99. I changed the '92, but never did change the '99. I haven't been able to find the hole on my '05, but I will look again the next time I change my oil. I wasn't planning on worry about it much until I saw a drip on the parking lot. :)

Well, even with the picture and description, I couldn't find it. I don't doubt it's there but my old arthritic hands and weak eyes just couldn't locate it. I guess I'll wait for the pink drip as well. Hard to imagine that Dodge was able to come up with something that's a bigger PIA than the front driveshaft lube point.

That driveshaft is a PIA, but the water pump is a Cummins design. If it's OE, i wouldn't be surprised if it was covered in paint. I've ran into that a few times before.

You will not see the weep hole on the newer years,Arons pic is good but you can not see the detail. The channel is open to the flange on the engine side out side of the seal but doesn't show from underside... ..... if that makes any sense.
