Weight Over Rear Wheels

How much is there? I'm thinking about 2500 lbs empty (or less) and another 2500 to 3000 on top of that w/ my fifth wheel hooked up -- sound about right? About 5500 total?

I think most people would be surprised at the pin weight of their 5ers. Seems most think it is much heavier than it actually is. Mine is 11,200 lbs total weight when loaded. My pin weight is 1875.

A visit to the CAT scale would answer your question much better than our guessing the answer.

My total is over 23000lbs our 38ft 5th wh carries about 14000lbs on 4 235x85 16in load range "G" Goodyear tires. Now I know what the book says about a 99 3500 with a 4:10 and a 5spd,but look at this way the truck has 110000 miles on it,our trailer is a 98 it destroyed a GMC. On a good day we get 12 mpg on I-20 at 2200 rpm at 62 mph So what is over loaded. The Dana 80 seems to like the load. I put Geno's large Diff cover on when it was new. Still run E tires get about 40000 miles to a set now this is whare all the weight shows up. We run coast to coast any whare USA. All I wanted to say is a good truck needs care and don't go to far over board. You all know what F. O. R. D stand for, ? Old Rebuilt Dodge

I often pull up to 22K lbs behind my 04 dually with 185K..... been across the scales at 15,500 KG in Canada, thats 34,100..... and often have close to 5,500 on the front axle, and close to 8,,000 on the rear axle with 20,000 on the trailer axles...



This truck has never seen a full tank of fuel through the truck empty.....



The trailer has hyd, disc brakes... . and works very well... ... .

Sorry to barge in but noticed you were talking about weight on the rear axle,Whehen I used to repo toys I drove a 02 1-ton. It's hard to remember what everything weighed,It was a 45ft triple axle that held 17 Harleys with another 7 on the bed so I'm guessing in the neighborhood of maybe 18000lbs. :--) that was with stock suspention. unclemarc
