I have lots of play in the rear output shaft of my 205 transfer case, Now I have rebuilt it and put all new bearing in it which made it better but I still have play and some vibration. I have a feeling that I need a new output shaft as the bearing went on way to easily and even with the new bearing I have some up and down play.

Anyone else worn out a output shaft or had problems with one????

Also anyone have the spec's or know where to find them for what the dimentions on the shaft should be???

205 SHAFT

ALL MARRIED 205 OUTPUTS SHAFTS WILL ( should ) WORK ! just need to know if it a (1310,1350,1410 ) yoak on it !! you plobably have the 1350 driveshaft yoak !! I beleive any one of these will fit the 205 output shaft !! early chevy, dodge , anyway !!

If you mean the cast housing it rides in yes, I pulled the case a while back because of play in the ouput shaft, I rebulit the case but still had some play not bad but a little. Vibration wasn't bad at all.

Put new motor mounts and trans mounts in, vibration got worse, So I had the driveshaft rebuilt and ballanced Slip yoke really was wore out. I think I tightened everything arround it up and it now I can really feal it. Especially about 50mph under load. .

I have found a place that can get me a new one but they are about 200$ I think I will take a little trip to the local wrecking yard and look for an output shaft, 4x4's arn't that popular here in Houston so parts are usually easy. .

As far as the yoke goes mine has 1410 joints in it and if I find a good output shaft I will buy a new yoke... They arn't that expensive...

RHancock----Section 21, Page 315, Line 21, Dodge '92 Shop Manual. Regarding NP 205 Transfer Case. End play on assembled rear output shaft-------0. 002 to 0. 027 inch. I thought mine was loose when installing new trans untill it was checked with an indicator. Good Luck.
