Tonight while driving home I experienced something weird. As I took off from the light, turning left, the front end of my truck seemed to wobble around the corner. It was as if one or both of the front tires had literally come loose from the hub. I have zero problems in a straight line, but as soon as I turn the wheel either direction, it's there. Checked everything we could think of in the front end, but nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Any suggestions?

May be a stupid question, and not to slight your intelligence, but experience has shown me that's the first place to start! You didn't slip into 4w somehow, did you? Sounds like the symptoms may fit what you've described.

Death wobble normally occurs at freeway speeds and you will definatley know it. What does your end links look like? Look at the trac bar also. This is just a start of troubleshooting your problem. Start ruling thing out.

Problem fixed. Both drive axle u-joints shot. Couldn't see it before when inspecting the front end. Only found it when we turned the wheel with a slight load on the front tires (barely contacting the ground). Then the u-joints seperated about 1/2 inch and bound really bad. couldn't see anything wrong with them at any other angle. makes sense now, the binding was causing the wheels to hop around corners.

If you jack the front end, turn the wheels to one side and try spinning them, the problem shows up real quick.
