I just found a weird problem with my Blinkers and brake lights.

Here's the scoop, when the headlights are off the blinkers and brake lights work... no problems. The catch is when I have the Parking lights or headlights on, the brake lights come on and stay on. The right turn signal will work fine, but the left signal will come on and stay on... no flashing. Turn the Parking lights or headlights off and everything works great.

I've check both front and rear driver side blinker bulbs and they are fine.

I guess I should let you know that the dealer changed a bad right side high beam light last week. I'm not sure if that would have anything to do with this problem.

This truck only has 8200 miles on it and this is worrying me. Plus I'm leaving on a camping trip tomorrow afternoon with our fifth wheel... ... guess I won't be driving at night!!!

:(

I'd appreciate any help..... this is driving me nuts!!

Thanks... ... Gary

Try changing the taillight bulbs and see if your problem goes away. The bulb may appear to be good, may even flash and turn on with the lights, but have a short inside. I had a similar problem and it turned out to be a defective bulb, although it seemed to work fine.

You may also want to check the ground connections/wires for the light system. Anytime you drop a ground, it'll do some screwy things. Just a thought.

:D Just a tid bit here, but if you have a shop manual and you look at the head light wiring, you will find that you are not controlling when the 12vdc to the light comes on. Instead you are controling the ground and when it comes on. If you loose a ground as stated above, strange things will happen. I discovered this when I went to put in my auxillary light which I normaly control off the center tap for hi-beams. When my truck lights were off and no key in the ignition, viola!! The aux lights would burn real nice. I'm not sure if yours are the same, but a shop manual is a must. My bet goes with a defective ground on the back of the head lights. Good luck.
