Weird Radio Short

Ok don't laugh at this one. My dad called today with a strange problem with the '96 CTD (my old truck). When he tilts the steering wheel all the way up, the radio turns off. I know wierd. There has to be a wire shorting out some where near the base of the steering column. Any ideas on how to fix this one?

Ive heard of this before,usually the truck wont start though,until you lower the column,drop the columnm cover,and the lower cover,your going to have to replace the wiring there. If the wiring isnt damaged or broken,look at the connector to the ignition switch,its not uncommon for them to melt there,and ruin the connectorm,and switch. There is an updated harness,swithc that uses a relay to lower the load on the igniton switch if this is your problem.
