2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Weird Sound from Rearend

For starters, I'm talking about toxic gasses



Tonight I was out getting a bite to eat at Mickey D's and noticed a grating metal to metal sound form the rear end as I was rounding the building. I've never noticed it before, but when I turned the wheel all the way to the left there's this sound... it reminds me of a rusty gate hinge. Any thoughts on what it could be? I'm going to change the diff fluid this week so I may learn more when I get the cover off. What parts are needed to change the fluid?

Turning to the left, Sure it's not a front u-joint and Mickey D's wall just relected the soung to make it seem like the back?

It could have been from the front, because the only way I heard it was the sound reflecting off the wall of D's. When I heard it I stuck my head out the window and I swear it sounded like it came from the back.
