Weird Souond!!!!!

My truck is making a really low pitch sound almost sounds like something is rubbing together(sounds like it is coming from directly under the seat), maybe the T-Case? I checked and it took a quart and a half of oil before it spilled over. It's still making the noise, I'm stumped,dont take much to stump me

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all who respond, Alex

See if you can find at a parts / tool place for a stethiscope with a rod on the end , with the rod touching anything in ? you can hear unusall noises , bad bearings , if you that low on lube it may be a problum.

Weird Sound

Even after I filled it back up it would be a prolblem?

My truck used to make a high pitched squeaky noise, turned out to be the exhaust hanger on the bell housing was cracked. You couldn't tell it was broken until I unclamped the downpipe from the turbo. The bolt and all was there, just the bracket broke where it was bent. Spent the extra 2 mins to fix that while I was shortening my DP. Just something you might want to check.

If the lube leaked out then that gives it a chance to go bad, but use something like the stethescope to find where the noise is coming from , a screw diver works also its safer to use something with flex between your ear and moving parts , but if your carful put the working end of the screwdiver touching the suspect part and then touch the handle to your ear .
put the truck on jack stands so that you can have in gear and everything rolling or make the same conditions that make the noise start with something easy like the differential , go to the backing plate [ inside of wheel ] , this will start to give you a sence of a good [ even smoth sound ] and bad [ruff uneven sound ,growly ]
With the stethascope I've taken the rod & diaphram off and put a tube on the hose and found easly vacume and exhaust leaks also .
