I've heard it is real difficult to get the pinion gear depth adjustment on the ring gear just right. Your method should solve that problem.
 
The problem is that you welded the wrong gears together. You should have welded the spider gears together, not the ring and pinion.

Thanks man. I am not the dummy who did this. I saw this pick on another forum & almost fell out of my chair. I just wanted to give you guys a good laugh. :-laf I did some demo derby cars in the past, we welded the spiders. ;)

Pretty good job on the welds man, if you cant move the truck with just those little splatter welds and a million foot lbs coming from your engine.
 
Funny post, but I think it was probably a joke on the other site as well. I doubt he could have gotten a weld that good on the r&p while in the housing and top and bottom to boot.



But to the unknowing its a good joke. :-laf
 
If you look closer, You'll see that the pinion is not even in the housing but just sitting on a piece of metal on a table. NOBODY is that dumb!

Yeah, thats what I said too, but the guy then posted a pic of it in a housing & really had us going. :-laf
