My water bill for last month was $530. It read that I only used 257,000 gallons of water. I traced the leak down with playing with valves to 300' of pipe and even with it dumping 8500 gallons out a day, it aint showing above ground. Since it drains that good, it might explain why it never stands water.

I must be drinking Perrier then!

I used 26,928 gallons (rainy season) for $163. 03 on my last bill. My cost for the same mishap would have been over $1556. 00 for the same quantity.

If you had been in Colorado, you would probably be in jail. Water Nazis are getting REAL mean with the water shortage and all.

As far as the sinkhole problem, that is where the water is going. I have a cave that runs right behind the house and there is a big old sinkhole that is 100 feet from the house. The back of the foundation is made into the hill that slopes down to the hole. The water line runs throught he basin of the sinkhole. Ive got a new line ran to the house and the meter stopped looking like a speedometer on a top fuel car.
