Screwing around with a couple of buddies, something went pop and now I've got trans codes (can't pull them until I get it to work tomorrow) and no forward or reverse movement. It's somewhere between the crankshaft and the output shaft on the transmission.

Hopefully we're not too busy at work tomorrow and I can pull it in and yard out the trans.

I'm hoping it's the torque converter.

This morning when the tow truck guy got here we discovered that the truck won't even roll backwards with the engine running - reverse, park, neutral, drive... no chance at all of getting it to back up. It drives forward in neutral and drive though. To back up you have to shut the motor off and put it in N.

I dropped the pan this afternoon at work and there's a bunch of copper colored crud floating in my <500 mile old ATF.

So far so good, melted most of the clutches together in the front half of the transmission. Nothing broken yet.

Finished tearing it down, the OD clutches were the ones that were smoked. No hard parts were damaged, I got out of it pretty lucky.

However, instead of dumping a few hundred into stock stuff only to have to deal with it again down the road, I'm putting a suncoast converter/flexplate/mega rebuild to it.
