Well, I finally did it. Stopped for fuel at Flying J on a trip home today (2pm on a Monday). I was all ****** off at the mess of campers int he truck stop and people blocking pump and every other throughfare with unattended rigs, two broken diesel pumps. I finally got to a pump, grabbed the right most handle (usually diesel) and started pumping. 15 gallons later I realized it was regular unleaded and I shut it off. I went into the desk and called the shop in the back of the building (J-Care) who told me that they were not equipped to empty my tank for me. The gave me a garage number. I call the garage who says they can do it, but don't have anyone to do it. I call Good Sam emergency road service who finds someone who could do it tomorrow or Wednesday, they can tow my truck, but not my camper, so that would have to go somewhere else (I'm only 150 miles from home). So I said to hell with all of them. I sent a buddy to Walmart for 5 gas cans and I had a length of hose. I syphoned it out right there in the parking lot.
I had 1/8 of a tank by the guage when I pulled in and I put in 15 gallons of gas. We syphoned out 22 gallons. Then I put in some power service cetane boost and 36. 2 gallons of diesel fuel. The truck seemed to run ok home. I think what ever was left in there will be pretty well diluted. I'm down to 3/4 of a tank. I was going to go again and top it off and then just run it the rest of the way out.
Any other suggestions of what I should do, or should this take care of it.
Thanks,
Nick
