Cold Weather Start and Fuel

Nice 2001 3500 4x4 for sale

Stopped by the local truck stop last night and filled up my empty 105 gal bed tank. $146. 00 worth. Proceeded to head on down the road, turned the pump on to fill up the main tank as I never fill it from a station pump... . (allows me to filter the fuel twice since I have a filter on the bed tank also)

Can you guess where we are headed yet? Thats right, I drove home and forgot to turn off the pump... ... . Now I figure I pumped about 80 gal of fuel out on the driveway... ... .

185,000 miles on this truck and aux tank... ... never done it before... ... . and you can bet your sweet bippy it wont happen again... ... . gonna put a back up beeper on the pump that comes on when the truck is not running with the pump on... ... .

Life sucks and then you die Oo.

Well now you know what you did:D Maybe we should start a forum for idiots. According to my wife I would be at the top of the list:D But there are quite a few of us on here:confused:

if you think that was an expensive

mistake report the fuel spill and the clean up will be a lot worse than 150. 00 :(

Sheet happens everyone has done something stupid at least once!!

Yep, it would give everyone a chance to laugh with us about our mistakes. And help us realize we weren't the only one to do something stupid.

Nevermind feeling stupid, fix the problem. Several ways to handle it. I use a lighted switch, so I know it is pumping when lit. I also wired it so that it would only run when the ignition is on.

All this didnt save me from my stupid mistake, last week. I filled up and left the cap off of my aux tank. I was about 15 miles down the road and noticed my rear window gunking up with oily stuff. I pulled over asap, and the entire bed, tailgate, back window, toolbox, and bumper were covered solid with diesel. Smelled good though. I washed my truck an hour later. Drive through of course. It looked like I lost about 5 gallons. I wont know until I top it off.
