Well it finally happened but at a good time for me with only about 2 months on the 5 year 100,000 mile warranty. The head gasket went south and it pulled part of the head gasket into the cylinder and grooved it. I have to replace the motor come Monday but they only sent a short block :( but it’s getting a new head and all. The block is a # 56 that’s going back in but it’s a taco block coming out.

Day By Day

When will it end? When I pulled the head off it blew out in-between # 4 and # 5 cylinders. The head gasket was in bad shape. It had parts missing that could not be found. It had so much oil in the coolant that I had to replace the radiator for not being able to flush it all out. I wonder how long I had this concern before it really showed up with pushing coolant out the over flow. I forgot how long it really takes to do a short block and new head build up. But everything is new and clean. I felt like I went threw a work out with just doing the head-bolt torque pattern all 28 of them. But what the fun part is the lifters and cam removal. I can’t wait to have it back on the road again.

Keep us updated.

It is a long job. I'm doing one right now, but with stuff needing to be done in between, It's taking Forever!

Find any snags to watch out for?

about time

It is finally done:D boy that was a long job and I had other tings to do too at the DLR. I can't see anything to look out for unless you get a new head and forget and leave out one plug  I found that out fast when I was putting in the coolant. So it runs and sounds better now. I don't think I want to put a cam in one of these things anytime soon  I put the whole motor together before putting it in and boy that picker was telling me it was a lot of motor:--)
