God Bless Johnny Cash's family.

I grew up listening to him and he's always been my favorite. I will really miss him.

I also will miss him. I too grew up listening to "the man in black" and it has been a sad morning for me once I heard the news.

God Speed Johnny, and God bless your family, friends, and fans.

now the suffering is over for him. . thank God , and he is in a better place now with his wife.

if there is such a thing in death... the good news all his old stuff will come out again in re-release and boxed sets.

I'm frankly amazed he made it this long after June Carter Cash died. Once again, the circle is unbroken. Godspeed, Johnny, and thanks for the ride!

anyone remember why he was "the man in black" ?

re-release and boxsets ??? I'll have to go home and fire up the turn table !

what's your favorite Johnny Cash tune ?

Well, you wonder why I always dress in black,

Why you never see bright colors on my back,

And why does my appearance seem to have a somber tone.

Well, there's a reason for the things that I have on.

I wear the black for the poor and the beaten down,

Livin' in the hopeless, hungry side of town,

I wear it for the prisoner who has long paid for his crime,

But is there because he's a victim of the times.

I wear the black for those who never read,

Or listened to the words that Jesus said,

About the road to happiness through love and charity,

Why, you'd think He's talking straight to you and me.

Well, we're doin' mighty fine, I do suppose,

In our streak of lightnin' cars and fancy clothes,

But just so we're reminded of the ones who are held back,

Up front there ought 'a be a Man In Black.

I wear it for the sick and lonely old,

For the reckless ones whose bad trip left them cold,

I wear the black in mournin' for the lives that could have been,

Each week we lose a hundred fine young men.

And, I wear it for the thousands who have died,

Believen' that the Lord was on their side,

I wear it for another hundred thousand who have died,

Believen' that we all were on their side.

Well, there's things that never will be right I know,

And things need changin' everywhere you go,

But 'til we start to make a move to make a few things right,

You'll never see me wear a suit of white.

Ah, I'd love to wear a rainbow every day,

And tell the world that everything's OK,

But I'll try to carry off a little darkness on my back,

'Till things are brighter, I'm the Man In Black.

I still ove that Cash and Nelsone duet, "Ghost Riders in the Sky".

Watched that new video of his, "hurt" i think it is and noticed something for the first time. I saw this coming when his wife June Carter Cash passed away earlier this year. A man is made by the quality of the women who is in his life.

Watch this video and see the love in the eyes of his late wife. I should be so lucky to find a women who loves me as much as she did Johnny.

Ill drink a beer for johnny tonight. Godspeed.

I will definitely miss his music. . Tomorrow, there is supposed to be a whole hour program on 60 minutes..... I would like to see it. There is a big gap to fill in the Country music Industry now. . But, at least he is happy to be reunited with his wife, Waylon, Johnny Paycheck, and all the other great legends of our time! My favorite song was "ONE PIECE AT A TIME". . Total classic song. Hey, kind of reminded me of my old 1st gen. everything was from a different year model truck, when I tried to replace it!

I've already posted once on this thread, but I gotta say... .

George Jones said it when he sang "Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes?"

"No, there'll never be another red-headed stranger, a man in black and folsom prison blues... "

Again, Godspeed Johnny.

You're definantly right about that. :(

He will be sorely missed. A group of us put Johnny in the CD player Friday night at about 10:00p, and didn't leave the shop until 4:30a. Beer disappeared quickly, but the scene was pretty quiet.
