Well guys, just as the title says, i sold my pride and joy last night, my 2001 Dodge Cummins diesel with fully built driveline making over 500 wheel horsepower to get into something newer and nicer. Heres a picture of what i sold

Anyway, im moving on to newer, better, more luxurious things. So anyway, heres a handful of pictures i saved off dealer site (poor quality) of my new ride until i can get some good hi-res pictures of my own of it.

Anyway, the new rig is a 2010 Ram 2500 with the 6.7L Cummins diesel. Owned in texas, so no worry of road salt or snow starting any type of corrosion. Clean carfax, no accidents/damage reported. Only downside is i had to buy a truck with higer mileage than i was originally looking at due to price restrictions. So this truck has 120k on the clock, but id assume its mainly all highway miles so thats not so bad. Truck appears straight and clean.

My new truck does have the 68RFE trans which is a whole new game to me beings ive owned a manual 6 spd cummins only. What can you tell me about this trans and how do they hold up/life expectancy etc. Just hoping i dont end up buying a problem beings its an auto trans truck. Never had a ball in bed that i could see, didnt see any kind of plate bolted to frame so im guessing its never towed heavy and/or far.

It doesnt look like its been deleted or had any kind of tuner/programmer installed.

Like i said, just new to this generation so any info about anything you guys could give me would be much appreciated.

Check back for more pictures after i take delivery!!

I understand leaving my 2nd gen behind for a newer truck!

Nice looking rig! I think the 68RFE has been a good trans as long as the power is stock. I have 60K on mine towing from 27-29K combined. I have used AMZ/OIL Universal ATF and do a complete fluid exchange the two times I have changed mine.

which to me means that HOPEFULLY transmission has been flushed at LEAST that one time. Not sure what all is done at that 60k to 70k service interval. I just dont want to run into the issue of "oh the last 3 owners never flushed trans and it has original factory fluid in it"

Don't do a "flush" do a fluid exchange.

Don't beat me up too bad since I haven't owned an auto in years.

Here goes: A "flush" is when new fluid is circulated throughout the system while leaving the nasty old filter in place and the "exchange" is new fluid and new filter while leaving a bit of the old fluid behind that won't drain out. That is my understanding FWIW.

I also went from manual only trucks (97&05) to an auto with my 2011. If used as a truck and not a hot rod the transmission seems to hold up fine. I am running a smarty Jr and other modifications. transmission feels good to me and I have no worries.

Love the two tone paint OP. Has to be my favorite color combo.
