I'm genuinely sorry to hear about this Eric. This is by no means meant as a consolation but over here in Europe, this lowlife would not have had a chance. My insurance company recognised that a man and his CTD should be together until "Death do us part" and insisted on a pro-active GPS tracking sustem with an on-board independent cellular connection

In your part of the world, conventional frontier justice would seem appropriate, but this option is not (legally) available to me since Dunblaine a few years ago.....

That does suck

I hate people who take jack other people's property. Two years ago, I had all of my trimmers and blowers stolen out of the back of my truck... I was not able to finsh the job I set out to do. A couple of weeks ago at the beach, I got to "retrieve" stolen property from two young crooks who stole pocket books and wallets from people right next to me. Can't understand this garbage, that's why I chased them down... that was fun and worth it :D Eric_77 I hope you get the same satisfaction!

Eric 77,

Sorry to hear of loss. But look on the good side they didn't steal the newer one. Mite turn up after they are finisned doing what ever they needed it for.

Sod company next to me had an old flat bed dump truck with wood sides on it disappear one weekend(always left keys in it). One week later it was found parked across the street from Tampa's city hall. Unfortunately they had to drive down there and retrieve it. ( figured someone had to move to Tampa in a hurry)

That's terrible. I hate it when someone steals from me. I guess reason why is I don't do this so I expect the same from other's. Hope you find it.

Sorry to hear that Eric

The middle-east theft laws are pretty straight forward. You don't see many 1 handed or 0 handed people there. My Aunt and Uncle was visiting Saudi Arabia several years ago. My aunt left her purse hanging on a chair out front of a restaurant. Came back several hours later and it was still there with nothing missing.

The guy that stole your truck should be given the punishment for Adultery Middle-Eastern style!:D

anti theft device

When you get your baby back,

Goto this website and get the auto lock.

It attaches to either the clutch or the brake peddle and wedges it up from the floor so it cant be pushed down. the anti starting or anti getting in to gear safty devices become the trucks savior. On a stick, if you can't push down the clutch, you cant start it

Samr with the Auto, you can't get it into gear without pushing on the brake.

I use this all the time on my '01 want it right where I left it.

I would guess 1 of 2 things... ... ..... (1) Joy ride and it will turn up shortly or (2) ... ... ..... South of the Border, down Mexico way... ..... Ay yi yi yi, Ay yi yi yi... ... .

Good news

Well the truck showed up this morning. The shop super decided he would borrow it for the weekend. He made an extra key last week and didn't think anyone would notice it missing. Wrong! Well he WAS a good employee until then.

Stop! Go somewhere and cool down. Consider the cost of finding and breaking in a new shop super. Everyone makes mistakes. Be careful not to slam your privates in the cash register. Sleep on it!

Oh well... glad you got the truck back, safe and sound. Would you have loaned the truck to him if he asked? Trying to figure out why he thought it was OK to just take it.

Doc

Might have loaned it to him but needed it this weekend so went to get it and not there. It is not company policy to loan out our trucks or trailers. He knew he did not have permission to take it and tried to hide him taking it because it was not back at 10 last night but was back at 6 this morning.

You can still prosecute him for UUMV. A police record might keep him from doing this to the next guy... Dont think he didnt know what he was doing.

Add to all the above that since he did take the vehicle w/o permission, he very likely could have been doing something that doen't quite qualify as totally LEGAL! In which case had he been caught, your vehicle could have been confiscated and impounded for a bit, and then there would have been the negative press.

Persoanlly, I think it might be time for an equipment audit just to be sure he didn't take anything else w/o asking.

Good to hear your truck is back Eric_77 too bad about your worker. Hate to be a Mr. Negative here but wonder what else this guy does... . takes a car for a test drive, makes a copy of the key, returns the car, returns later for another test drive :p

You just have to wonder!
