well i couldnt take it. i've had five 4X4's and had never done this before, but i just had to see what i could go through with the new tires
it was wednesday of last week, we had rain for about two days and the ground had thawed from the rain. at first i was going to go through the lower part of my pasture but it was under abput a foot and a half of water and ice still on top. my wife was gone with the X and the old ford tractor is missing its radiator still. so i chose my nieghbors field road. its a nice straight road between two disced fields that runs about a mile then across a small creek and into the woods. i started out on the field road and as soon as the truck left the pavement i felt it start to slow. about 100 yards in i was thinking "i'm in trouble now" i had to keep the tire speed to about 80MPH to keep going about 30MPH. then i'm thinking, "how do i turn around?" i knew if i pulled off the road into the fields i would be done. i stopped and tried to back out but quickly came to a stop and started digging in. OH BOY! so back into forward and started building some ground speed. i knew that i would never make the creek or the lower section just past it. i just stayed in it up to a point that rose a bit and had dried out some. i quikly turned around, having rocked it back and forth about four times (had to stay out of the fields) and headed back. i made it back about a 1/4 mile weaving and bobbing thought the first set of ruts and made it to the paved road. Shooohweee! :--)
i went straight into town to the car wash. $5. 75 later i had it back white again and myself brown
i think this is where the buddy system was thought of. I could just see myself walking out to the neighbors house and asking HIM to pull ME out of his MUD!
all i can say is these tires were worth their money to me that night! they clean out fast. when i hit the pavement i was expecting a barage of mud flying. not even a small clump flew up.
