Skippy is no longer allowed....

First run of the day, which was the second day this season, which was the first season in 3 years since I had been skiing, was a DOUBLE BLACK DIAMOND(expert only) CHUTE with a THREE FOOT CORNICE DROP OFF!!!

Talk about not ready for that terrain! Usually I start with a blue (intermediate) as a first run of the day. It hurt! Number one my old 183 cm Rossignols are crap so I borrowed my dad's 170 cm carving skis where I should have been on 180 or 185 cm cross-mountain skis!

Anyway, my boss said we needed to go skiing. I didn't argue with him. I don't have a season pass but he found a coupon to get me a ticket for $25. Not bad when a regular day lift pass now costs about $65 or $70!

We took his 2500 Hemi 4-door 4x4 and cruised up and skiied. He is good! I mean, he is almost 30 years older than me and he smokes, and kicked my butt skiing! Doubles and single blacks, last run was a blue. That blue cruiser saved my butt, it felt good to actually use those skis for carving, instead of fighting against them on the bumps and steeps!

I just got fitted for skis and will be going for snofest in a couple weeks. Beware! I will probably have no control whatsoever since it is my first time. :(

Maybe i should get a helmet...

Helmets are a good idea, although one of the last guys at Vail who died from hitting a tree was wearing a helmet!

I don't use one but I am also not a good tree skiier.

It would be a wise investment though. Good luck on your first time out.

Copper (as well as all others here) yesterday and the day before were absolutly fantastice! Some of the best skiing with all the snow and warm temps. It's tough trying to decide which mountain to go to when smack in the middle of all of 'em. Oo.

I haven't gone yet this year. Last trip to Breck was horrible, as it took 7 hours to get home. 3. 5 hrs just to get from Breck to the Ike Tunnel. Bad weather sucks more with people who can't handle it and don't know how to drive in it.

I got a new pair or parabolic for Christmas 03, so skiing is more fun than ever. I stick to the blues, and that's plenth of fun for me.

I used to do a lot of hiking, climbing, cycling, and snowshoeing in Summit County when I lived in CO. Sure do miss it. :)

I haven't gotten out yet 'cause of the low snowpack, and with recent warm temperatures I think every ski resort in Washington is closed (as far as I know). Heck it was 70 in Walla Walla a couple days ago, breaking out the water skis might be a better plan

Snowpack has been very poor here too... . so sad. :( I have this wilderness intern from TX here for the year and I keep telling him it really isn't suppose to be like ths. He just "yeah, sure... tell me about it. " :)

I've been out a numer of times and I'm a REAL hack on my teles.

I'm so cheap I've been using my climbing helmets for many years. However, I have been considering picking up a real brain bucket because undoubtedly they are designed for the activity.
