Were to mount the air bag guage and switches?? Install complete and pics added.

Did a search and couldn't find much on it. I have the single, dual readout guage (2 1/6") and 2 switches on my set up (left and right rear). I am looking for a good place to mount the in cab hardware. I was thinking about cutting them into the ash tray unit since I am a non smoker. I know using one of the cubbies would be the best solution, but I was hoping to save them. I am think I will see if the ash tray thing works on Sun if I can figure out a better place.

If anyone has any thoughts please speak up.

Thanks,

Aaron

Aaron,

I mounted mine below the cupholders in a custom pod I built. Not sure if you have room there with the manual though. Here is a link to a picture of how it looks - gauges

That install is nice. Unfortunately with the 6 sp that is a no go. I have had to mount the brake controler and CB on cel phone stlye pedistals because ther is no room. Moving the cig plug will not work either. I use it for the radar detector and the spot is not large enough. I guess when I get it to fit in the ash tray door pannel i will post a pic. Anyone else???

Thanks again,

Aaron

Well it is possible to put the guage and the switches in the ash tray door. With some carefull planning and major surgery to the rear section I got everything to fit. The big problem came when I tried to reinstall the tray. The air bag hoses are so unforgiving I could not get the door shut and the rear section cracked on me. Unfourtunately, I had to put 2 screws through the top to keep everything shut. The install was not as clean as I wanted, but it will have to do. It is much better then the spider web of hoses I had on the center consol. Also, I used an Autometer angle ring to direct the guage up so I could see it better. You still do not get fulll vision of the guage, but it is acceptable since you don't have to monitor it. Hope this helps someone in the future.
