Rubber like coating for oil pan

I just installed a Westach 0-30 gauge on my 2000 3/4 ton S/B.

Was installed with the fuel pressure line from Geno's garage.

The gauge has power (from fuse #16). The backlighting also

works. My problem is that it does not register any readings.

I installed the fuel line so that the end nipple inside would engage

the schrader valve on the test port.

The needle does swing to about 2 psi when the key is on or in the

accessory position.

(not forward enough to activate the lift pump)

what gives?

when i installed mine i did not have any readings either. i found out that i had to back out the schrader valve a little bit so the hose would depress it enough to get fuel to come out. don't know if that is your problem, but it might be worth to check into.

Make sure you have the wires hooked up to the gauge properly. I glanced at the directions when I hooked it up, not realizing that there are two sets in there. A temp setup and a pressure setup. I had mine set up as temp, rewired it, 13 psi.

I was mad til I realized sometimes you do have to read the full set of instructions, especially when wires are involved.

okay been there done that. backed off the schrader valve. . no luck. Removed the schrader valve... no luck. Tried a jumper wire to a new ground source from the sender unit... no luck Re-wired the ground circuit anyway... no luck. Do I need to bleed the line?

This sucks! The transfer pump is making noise.

"Do I need to bleed the line?"

No. I intentionally left air in both lines to my pre and post-filter Westach senders.

If you have a source of compressed air you might want to use low-pressure air to check your install before you condemn the transfer pump.

Good luck.

Westach and their Mickey Mouse wiring and instructions =

I helped a buddy with his. Same problem, had to check and recheck the wiring and switch it on the gauge and the sender until we found the right combination. Air in the lines will not make a difference. Ditto the above, try with compressed air (slightly lower than the max on your gauge!) until it reads, then check your fuel.

I switched polarity at the sender... . no luck. Called Westach this

morning. Their response..... send the gauge & sender back for

test. ARGHHHH! Not giving up yet. I removed the fuel line

from the sender and put the end in a bottle... ... . result

Engine runs fine but nothing coming out of the test port.

and yes the lift pump makes noise. I had already removed the schrader valve from the test port. What gives? Loosen test port

in the banjo fitting?

frustrated in PHX.

UMMMmmm - you ARE sure your LP is actually WORKING, right? ;)

The fact that it IS giving a small upward swing momentarily, then nothing, sounds sorta suspect... And the mere fact that it "makes noise" does NOT mean it is actually functioning properly! ;)

I installed one for a friend... no readings. Checked, double checked and everything was good. LP was dead.
