Does anyone know if the Westach oil pressure gauge is electronic, like their fuel pressure gauges?

The reason I'm asking is that I'd like to add a real oil pressure gauge, and a fuel pressure gauge.

I'm thinking that I might be able to use two sending units, wired through a switch of some kind, that steers either the fuel reading or the oil reading into the gauge.

That way I can leave it switched to oil pressure most of the time & check on the fuel pressure sporatically, without having to climb under the hood. :D

I'd prefer to combine these two gauges, so that I don't need to clutter my interior with anymore gauges than necessary.

Please feel free to post your suggestions or opinions.

Wasn't aware that Westach made an oil pressure gauge for our CTD's, at least I've never seen it through Geno's. They make aircraft oil pressure gauges, but you don't even want to know what that cost, for using in a truck. If you use a fuel pressure gauge, the max pressure they offer through Geno's is 0-30psi. All of the gauges I've used (Westach) are electronic (except the boost gauge). I suppose you could buy two senders (one for the fuel and one for the oil pressure) if 30psi is good enough for the oil pressure. With the 3rd gens, you probably won't see more then 8-10 psi on the fuel pressure. Hooking them up with a single pole double throw switch should be doable. There have been several TDR members that have hooked up pre and post turbo egt probes using a single pole double throw switch. I'm sure there are others that can chime in...

Good info on the single pole double throw switch. Westach lists a 80 psi oil pressure gauge in the automotive section of their website, but it doesn't include any details or pricing information. I suppose I could find a suitable, electric autometer oil pressure gauge if pricing is prohibative on the Westach unit.

The switch is the part that I was most curious about, so thank you.

I think the problem you will have is that the fuel pressure in the 3rd gens is very low. If you get an oil gauge that reads 80psi, when you switch to the fuel pressure sensor it will barely deflect the needle. The single pole double throw switch will work, as you will use a common ground and then switch between the two senders.

I found an oil pressure gauge from Dakota Digital that I think will work. It displays in 1 psi incriments & it'll match my EGT/boost/transmission gauge. The 2nd sending unit isn't too expensive either.

Thanks for the help with the switch & the point about reading fuel psi on a oil gauge.
