OK, I give up... :( been trying to install my new Westin step bars for the last three hours and things just aren't going to well.

The driver side install went fine, everything lined up fine. the passenger side, that's another story. The sent me indentical mounts for both the left and right side, the should be a MIRROR image from one side to another.

Of course it's Sunday and nobody's home at Westin.

Anyone else have a problem with these step bars?

Mirror Not a problem

Ron,

I got Westin's on my truck and the brackets are a mirror image of each other. On one side of the truck the L shaped bracket faces forward and on the other side it faces backwards. I know it's not the way I would have built them but I'm sure it saved them a lot of money on the manufacturing end of things not to mention it works great and you never see the mounts anyways. I have no complaints with the steps at all they have been rock solid and still look good. :)

Hope this helps.

Hemiless,

Thanks for the come back... Your brackets are the same as mine.

What I meant by "mirror image" was the right and left side should be different, as if you held the part in front of a mirror, the reflection would the way the other bracket would look.

I hope I'm making sense here:D It's 5 AM here in nY

Ron,

I don't remember about my mounts, so I can't help you with that issue. I did have a different problem mounting my Westin nerf bars, though.

When I was attaching the support strap from the cab body to the nerf bar, I tightened the mounting bolt too much and stripped out the hole on the nerf bar. I called Westin and told them about it and they sent a replacement bar, plus a UPS call (pickup) tag to ship the original one back to them.

Their service was great. When you finally get through to them, I'm sure they'll take care of you.

For everyone's information, I have ICI nerf bars on the 1995 truck, and those bars have a welded-on nut where that strap goes, it's almost impossible to strip that one. The reason I didn't buy ICI again was because of Westin's lifetime warranty on their CPS bars.

Watch the torque on those bolts.

OK, I finally did it, got the passenger side bars installed. I just started from scratch... . Left all the mounting bolts to the bracket and the strap way loose and forget about connecting the step bar at this time. With the step bar attached it was way too heavy to correctly align all the bolts.

thanks for all the help (even Westin, they were good).
