I'm planning on Westin Oval series nerf bars for my truck. One thing I've noticed is, in pictures, they seem to mount fairly close to the body. This can be a good area for snow (salt) to collect. This is a big reason I don't want a style where the bars "wrap" under the truck. (Many trucks around here have a rust patch in this area).

Are there different mounting brackets (for the ovals) that get the bar farther away and/or lower? (Maybe the ones I've seen are meant for 1500 series trucks that don't have as much clearance). Anybody have part numbers?

How complex are the brackets? How do they attach to the bars? Where do they mount to the frame?

I'm seriously thinking of buying the bars only and fabricating my own mounts (deal with a lot of S. S. here at work). Any assistance would be appreciated. - Thanks!

Is this mounting kit specifically for the 2500/3500 trucks, or all Rams? There were other posts by people saying that (for other lines of Westin bars) the heavy-duty brackets were not out yet (or had just come out), so they made the 1500 brackets work with some additional fabricating. Again, my hopes are to get the bars away from the cab a little more than the ones I've seen.

How do the brackets attach to the bars? Do the bars have tabs to bolt to, or are they slots/clips/etc. ?
