2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Wet Feet

Last week I was fixing to leave from a week camping trip went out and open the passenger side door carpet was standing in water. When I got home I pulled the seat out on that side and pulled the carpet and pad up separated them and put a fan on them for 3 days findley dry. Never before has it happened be fore. I have sprayed & sprayed & sprayed not a drop. It rained heavy the day before as it has many times before never a leak. Has any one else had this problem. Any suggestions.

Although I havent had the problem myself, I have read here that many have found their rear cablite to be leaking ... ... ... ... I guess the water runs downhill and ends up on the pass side floorboard... ... ... ... ... check it out.

The most likely cause is the third brake/cargo light on the back of the cab above the rear window. It's easy and cheap to fix. Get a new gasket from Dodge. Clean the surface with alcohol. Then be very careful that the flimsey cheapo gasket is exactly right when you install it. The water runs down around the light. The rear seat is up on a raised place in the floor so there are what amounts to rain gutters on both sides. So you end up with a wet floor in the front.

I used the putty tape that RVs use for window sealing , worked great. A whole roll is about $3. 00. Thats what it is I bet, a whole lot of folks have had this problem.

I had the same problem about a month ago!
I replaced the cargo light gasket and just to be sure, I also added some heater hose to the A/C drain tube at the passenger side firewall. Heard it here on the TDR that it can blow back into the cab instead of draining when you are traveling. I think it was about 5/8".

I had the same problem in my '96. I siliconed the 3rd brake light but that did not help. Mine was due to the roof trim on the passenger side where it goes into the rear window gasket. I filled the area with sealant and have not had any leaks since, that has been about a year. David

Funny that y'all brought this up because about a month ago I was vacuuming out the car and when I took out the rubber floor mats I noticed that the floor was wet on the passengers side. Left the floor mat out for a couple of days and haven't thought of it since. However in retrospect, I might want to check out that third brake light.

Well I think I found the leak. After I read the input from ya'll the first thing I checked was where the roof trim join the rear window seal. I had my wife in the truck with a flash light looking in the hole where the jack is stored about two Min's. after I started spraying she saw the water. Then I looked up at the seal and saw a drop come down. Now I will I will try to fix or carry to a window shop. djgwinn said he put sealant in seal may try that.
