Does anyone know if a hx 35 is a direct replacement for the wh1c on a 92? If not what does it take to put on a hx 35?

Doug and I put an HX35 exhaust housing on my 93 over at Wentland Diesel just a week ago. Doesn't seem to matter, the exhaust housing is a bolt-on fit.

BUT!!! The exhaust PIPE is another story. Gonna need some other parts to make it work.

If you have located a whole turbo and are swapping, it is not quite a straight bolt in, but real close. It bolts on the engine perfectly unless it is very new and has a couple studs instead of 4 holes (still easy to fix with a drill, though), and hooks to the oil and drain just fine, but your intake hose and exhaust outlet won't be quite the same.

The wastegate housing moves all the piping back some distance. Expect to need 2 inches more room. You can get a takeoff downpipe to match the newer turbo outlet at Olson Brothers.

I've been running my HX35 for about 3 weeks now. I only had to cut about 1 1/4" out of my down pipe. I removed the cast exhaust elbow from the turbo so I could hook up down pipe with v-band clamp. I then cut off down pipe just before the diameter blows up just after the flange. Take the piece you just cut off to the grinder and bevel the cut off edge. Now cut pipe 1" behind original cut and smooth out rough edges on cut. The short piece with the flange will now fit snuggly inside the remaining downpipe. I clamped it to the turbo, got the down pipe in position where I wanted it and tacked it in place to be welded after removal from truck. I wasn't feeling talented enough at 11pm to do the bottom section on pipe standing on my head to do it in truck. Seems to work well. I had to clock the cold air housing to bring the boost elbow up above the inner fender for clearance as it is about 1/2" too long to clear the frame rail in my truck. I planning on chucking the boost elbow in the lathe and cutting it down to size after I find somebody wiiling to weld it back up for a reasonable price. Also have to find time to do it.

Guess I've rambled long enough, PM me if you have any other questions.
