Diesel with no Dinging

The little-respected diesel got a powerful makeover this year when General Motors introduced the Duramax, a lightweight and fuel-efficient engine that signals a new era in light truck design. The turbocharged 6. 6-liter engine, the world's most powerful diesel, produces 300 horsepower and 520 pound-feet of torque, which makes towing a cinch. The direct-injection engine runs so smoothly that it's nearly free of diesel clatter. It is available in the new Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 3500-series pickups.

Ok I even give them the benefit of the doubt (even though we all know it is BS) that is is the worlds most powerful diesel.

The most important part, even more important than power, is that it runs well, stays together, and starts every time you want it too. I'd bet money that the Dura-junks won't hold up even as well as a Powerjoke.

My $. 02

-ps's publishing co might be related to those fine folks who bring you the super chevy mags- ya think???? #ad
thats why they love those muradax's #ad

Apple guy,

GM probably bought some full page ads in PS and the writers just "discovered" diesel engines. It's amazing how writers slant "news" when big ads are sold!!

Pretty soon they will be in all the big rigs. Everybody wants a car that looks like truck. Maybe we should send them a invitation to the next Dyno-days?

I hear ya. I just don't get these folks who want a quiet diesel. I'm puting my straight exhaust set up on my 4x4 this weekend because I think the factory exhaust sounds so sickly. Oh, and the silencer ring will be going at the same time. Gotta have that big rig wound #ad

Whoa, I bet that the guys at Wartsila diesel, and Fairbanks-Morse are just fired-up, they are so stoked over this world's most powerful diesel thing, word is that Buick is going to produce a pick-up, and Wartsila is going to drop a 10,000 hp O. P. engine it, with a T-5 transmission #ad

I misplaced my mind again ha ha.

Uh, didn't Volkswagen have a 350hp turbo diesel in their concept truck at the auto shows this year? Even that sounds a little more powerful than the most powerful diesel in the world to me #ad

Isn't the "diesel clatter" the sound many of
us love to hear when we gently romp on the throttle just off idle while in park or neutral?! Or is it just me #ad

I can hear it now "Yea, I'd be enterested in a new Freightliner day cab, conventional with roadranger transmission, and uh uh uh uh what was the name of that,? oh yea' a Duramax diesel" #ad

I had a kid at an auto parts store say he didn't like Diesels because of all the noise they make, (he was about 17) and driving a little rice burner. I just looked at him straight in the eye and said "That's what power sounds like son". It was great ! I love my noisey Cummins, heck thats half the reason I bought it.

What does he know?? Nothing to me sounds more stupid and annoying than those rice burners with those fat tailpipes! #ad
Oh, yeah, and the "thump thump" of the rap "music"(?) on their stereos. And this clown is complaining about the sound of a diesel? #ad
I would have told him, "Maybe someday you'll grow up and you'll be able to call yourself a man. "

The sound of Cummins engine is a pleasent some what reassuring melody of of fantastic proportions. With just a slight undertone of the enormous hidden power that is within. I give it two thumbs up!!!!!!!!!
