Want to change the transmission fluid this week in my 2000 NV4500. After all the reading on here and other forums, I did not notice anything mentioned about Royal Purple Max-Gear 75w-90. This is what Royal Purple recommends for this transmission. Says it is good for GL-4 and GL-5? I thought that I read that GL-5 has a lot more of some things not good for the NV4500. Would the Amsoil version be better?

Thanks.

I have been running Royal Purple in the transmission ( 75w-90 ) and rear end ( 75w-140 ) since new. Currently have over 278k miles with no problems.

I have been running Royal Purple Max-Gear 75w-90 for years and have posted many times about it here on TDR. I have 206,000 miles on my all original bone stock NV4500 transmission. The factory clutch was changed at 180,000 miles (because the springs were weak, lots of wear left on the disc) and I have a TST #5 and tow a 11,500 lb fifth wheel. Yes, Royal Purple is great stuff. I can't speak for Amsoil, I have never used it.
