I have a vendor that has a clutch as described below:

Rhino Pac Premium clutch kit made by AMS.

part # 05-101-SR300

it has cerametallic buttons. 8 total buttons.

AMS states that it will hold 800 foot pounds of torque. They also state that it is stronger than the LUK gold kits.

Pics to follow this evening.

The only Rhino clutch I've ever had experience was not even a button clutch and it was a chattering Mo Fo. I'd hate to try their button clutch.

the clutch disk is definatley solid... It does have dampener springs around the splined hub, but otherwize it is solid. The rep said it chatters at idle, probably like a dual disc.

I personally wouldn't mind the chatter. My exaust is loud (think open at the end of the dowpipe) :D

I'm not talking chatter like noise. I'm talking chatter like not smooth on engagement. Backing a trailer uphill around a corner was out of the question with that thing.

Well, Has anyone heard of this one in paticular

I am hoping someone else has heard of this one in paticular. I don't want to install it, if there is verified experience that it is not a good unit. The vendor gave it to me to try out. If I like it, I can buy it. If not, take it back out.

Heck, if they gave it to you to try out, do it !

We sell a lot of AMS clutches and have that part number on the shelf..... its 3 steps up from the standard clutch... expect chatter backing up an sometimes going foward in low gear.....

Its our clutch of choice where the customer has turned up the HP..... We also offer them with the 1 1/4 input shaft... yours is a 1 3/8... . the pressure plate is upgraded with more plate load... and of course the disc is heavier and designed for the higher torque and HP.....

Hope this helps and answers your questions.....

I am looking at some ams clutches, my uncle is a mechanic and he can get them for me, the one from ams that he is getting me holds something like 400 horsepower. Is this a different clutch or is there one that holds more from ams?

The clutch is in

Picked up the truck today. The clutch is in. At first, it was slipping (seating) when I got on it a little, but by about 100 miles, the clutch seems to be holding the tst / edge stack. Edge at level 4 and tst pmcr at power 4 and tq 3.

I drove some more and the clutch is getting grabbier on engagement. It is no big deal as it is like a class 8 truck. I turned up the power on the TST to a 5 and the tq to a 4. it seems to hold good.
