I read this in the Declaration of Independence:
But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.
It also says:
Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes.
One persons threshold of "abuses and usurpations" and "light and transient causes" is different from another's.
IMHO, a majority of people in our country are generally happy with the way things are or don't pay much attention to the fact that a U. S. citizen's freedoms are becoming less and less. Republican or Democrat, makes no matter. Bona fide, fundamental change doesn't get much traction these days. Thankfully, the majority still seems to rule. The majority put 44 in office. The right time to take action is now says I with letters to representatives, voting, and trying to show what once was is now no longer. Do this with tact.
Organizing only with like minded people, forming militias or what have you only ostracizes those that don't hold one's point of view. The object of the game is to CHANGE their point of view. How? Beats me... . But when I think of the people that died, the parents that lost children, all so I can have the freedom to write a letter to my rep *****ing about where the hell is 700 Billion going to come from in the first place..... How can I not stop trying? Brute force, in your face opposition against a majority that knows no better will get you killed or put in the clink for no good reason at the worst. Me thinks there are enough of "us" to shed light, effect change, point to freedom, not overthrow. Sadly these efforts are in competition with the price of a gallon of gas or who's winning on american idol.
