Bought the truck new, got 15K out of first set of fuel filters.

Second set, only 7500 and the fuel filter minder said "change"

third set, Now, I'm at 3800 miles and have 3 % left...I've been using stations that have FRESH fuel...

At this rate, I'm going back to dino oil to offset the fuel filters cost...LOL

Anyone having this issue?

Thanks for your input.

Dumb question:

When you reset the fuel filter life after changing the filters, did it go all the way back to 100%?

Does your truck have all the latest computer module firmware flashes?

I believe there were some related to reseting the fuel filter life in the 2013's.

John L.

Be aware that your filter life may reset to 100% after the flash as mine did. Keep track of the miles that are already on this filter. Interestingly enough, the %oil life left didn't reset.

Well the dealer said mine already has been re-flashed. Soooooooo, I guess my 2K RV trip must have used up 12K of filter life.( I changed the filters right before I left on the trip).Going to change the filters out and hope that it goes back to at least 10K+ miles before it asks for filter changes again.....

Going back to 15w40 dino oil now too. Ill use the extra savings on fuel filters now !!! LOL

Bug Out,

By chance do you do a lot of idling?

How dirty did the engine mounted filter look?

Did you cut open the chassis filter (under the bed) to see how dirty it looked?

John L.

The owners manual says the oil life/change indicator is duty sensitive. That means certain types of driving like excessive idling and stop/go towing will use up more oil life (on your monitor). I'm wondering if the fuel life sensors are similar?

Mine are acting normal. Maybe when changing your filter, something (particle of debris) got through and is getting detected in fuel system?

Do these trucks have capability to detect pressure differential across the fuel filters? If not, they must use an algorithm like the oil change system huh?

Our 2014 3500 is always all over the board with the fuel filter change notifications. One day it's "change now" next time you go to use it, it's at 20, 30, pick a number, percent used... I don't get it.
I figured I'd go by miles if necessary....

Mine seems to work fine and stays within 1 or 2% of the oil filter life. I have never seen it jump or decrease by any amount.
