Twin Turbo

I've got the K&N drop-in right now and have been debating on the BHAF. Many of you say there is no louder combo than a BHAF and a removed silencer ring. However, I've been reading that a BHAF will DECREASE turbo whistle? This is no good.

Please enlighten me with some educated responses.

Also, please no posts about the Scotty or the Megacannon or equivalent. I'm only asking about the stock box K&N and the BHAF.

Thanks guys.

I had the KN RE0880 filter on mine. After about 2 hours the ultra high pitch from the turbo would get to me. I switched to a BHAF. I love it. I can still hear the turbo scream, but the ultra high pitch is gone. Last month I took a little jaunt where I drove 13 hours straight. No problem.

HeavyHauler,

I have tried all combinations of what you are considering. Stock, stock with no snorkel, no silencer ring, K&N drop in with no snorkel or silencer ring, and bhaf with no silencer ring. By far I like the bhaf the best. I think the sound is just about the same as the K&N drop in. It seems to cut down on the very high pitched whistle, but the sound is close. I have found that the BHAF is the overall BEST sounding setup to me and my passengers. Get an outerwears prefilter (waterproof) if you go with the BHAF.

I have an K&N RU-3040. Its about 8" wide, 12" long, round filter. The inlet is 6" so i had to make a custom adapter. This filter is noticeably louder than the BHAF. I swapped to the BHAF for about a week and could hardly hear the turbo over the straight piped stacks. I cant get enough of the turbo sound so the BHAF had to go.

My AFE cone filter is LOUD, WAY louder than a BHAF. Take the silencer ring out and it sounds like you are driving a frickin 727, horribly annoying. Even with the silencer ring in it is way too loud in the cab. If you want turbo noise get a big cone filter, and then if you need more get the Scotty II.

ScottyII with the cowl hole sucks the loudest, but a AFE Megacannon with the cowl hole whistles the loudest with a much cleaner sound.

I go along with the last two the Mega-Cannon has the loudest and sweetest turbo whine. The BHAF was alot quieter and the drop in K&N's were as quiet as the stock filter.
