Just took a trip from WA State to Florida and back... almost 8,000 miles... . Had the truck serviced prior to leaving and again prior to returning..... Ran like a Waltham watch, no death wobble, no vibrations, no lift pump problems, no excessive oil usage and no smoke... also added an additive to the tank every other fillup. The transmission temp never got over 150 (108 degree day), the boost was OK and the EGT's were normal.

Am I doing something wrong ????

Where is your transmission probe? If you have it in the test port you are basicly reading the temperature of the case itself. Mine is thee and a tech showed me his OBD scanner reading was way higher just at idle. Mine too does not climb much above 150.

Doesn't the DTT come with a Mag Tech double deep pan? If so, that's 'bout right.

I have the stock transmission pan... All I know is the probe is mounted on the side of the pan..... Had it done by the Power Shop in Enumclaw... ... ... .

Going to start hunting a new truck soon... hopefully they can find a 2004. 5 or will wait until I can order a 2005... ... .

If this is true then the case on my trans goes up 30 degrees in 30 seconds when I am backing my boat uphill in my driveway, I do not think that is possible for the case to change temp that quickly.

"doing wrong"

The only thing I can see "wrong":D is you post a "01" CTD in the 3rd Gen forum:p Sounds like you had a good trip.
