I feel like a total idiot asking this, but how do I turn A/C on and off in my truck? In my '95 you turned the fan control to the right of center for just plain air, and turned it left of center for A/C. My new truck just has four fan speeds in one direction. The owners manual didn't explain it (at least not to me).

If the 2002 is like the 2001 there is a dial above the fan control that selects where the air goes (floor, defrost ,etc. ) If you turn this control far left you will have AC (little snow flake) and Max AC.

Hope this helps

I believe the compressor runs in defrost mode in addition to the modes listed above, at least mine does.

It also runs in Bi-Level mode as well... .

Only two positions turn of the A/C compressor... .

It is very hidden in the owners manual

I too haven't seen the newer trucks--but like everyone else said the AC is on the far left of the control knob and then you need to turn on the fan to get her pumping--this is how my 99 is set up... chris

I wasn't sure either... It is plain as day on the 95... but on my 2001. 5??? I figured it was just the ones with the snow flakes, and the defrost... but I noticed it cycling while in the BiLevel mode too...

Anyone else have problems with air blowing out the defroster when the setting is on the floor board vents????

Yep, the A/C runs on every setting but head level and floorboard only. Kinda silly, but it works.

TractorNut,

Check your vacuum hoses behind your A/C control panel. I pulled one loose one day while "tinkering". Made it act goofy like you're describing. Worth checking.
