I have a 2003 6-Speed 4x4 and I want to switch all lubrication to Amsoil and I need to Know what you guys recommend. Remember I live in Michigan so it is a little colder here. Thanks

i have seen a few here recommend the 15-40 marine oil for the engine. more reasonably priced than other viscosities. i will probably switch to it when i get to 20,000.

since this was specific to an amsoil question, you need to hear from amsoilman. he can give specific recommendations.

I use amsoil with their dual bypass system. I change my oil twice a year (change the filters more frequently than that). I switch between the 15-40 in the spring and summer and the 5-30 in the fall and winter time. The 5-30 in the winter time sure does make the engine sound better on those cold morning starts but really prefer the 15-40 in the hot months due to the temps where I drive in the summer. Oil analysis always says the oil is still ok but I can't seem to go over 20k on the same oil in my head. In Michigan I would probably just stick with the 5-30. I use their series 2000 gear oil in the diffs and the universal atf in the auto trans and xfer case.

You can use either the 15W-40, or our Series 3000 5W-30. The big factor is the price. The 5W-30 is more expensive than the 15W-40. Both can be used in cold weather. I believe the 15W-40 pours at -48, and the 5W-30 at -65. If you use the SDF-80 filter, you can run upwards of 12-15,000 miles before replacement of filter. I've a By-Pass system on my truck and I change the Full-Flow filter at that mileage, and change the By-Pass at the second Full Flow change. I also use an oil analysis program to test my oil.

For the Front and Rear differentials a 75W-90 either regular or our Series 2000 would work. Here again the Series 2000 is more expensive than our regular 75W-90.

In your 6-speed you can use our 5W-30 oil. Some would say not to use it, but it meets the requirements for the OEM oil.

If you have any further questions, you can pm me, or wait and see if Amsoilman responds with further info.
