I've got this question, and can't figure it out - figure I'd give it to the pro's. I'm sorry to offend, but I've seen what I thought was a weird/screwy dodge, and I can't figure it out. Here's the deal:
A guy down the road had a 2500 diesel (new model like prob 2000. I don't know if it was the camper special group (I've seen some with CS and didn't think they were that bad), the tires or what, but it was kinda jacked up in the back (not more level like most of the rams I've seen) In fact, it didn't even look like a 4x4 until I glanced under the bumper and saw the axle. I like the overall tall look, but this one gave me the creeps, and I done think he did any aftermarket mods. I ordered one w/o the camper group, hoping not to get that look, but hope I didn't compromise a "taller" vehicle over all. I hope this makes sense - sorry so long

Possible, but don't think so. It was like the back was right and the front was lower than the norm. . I don't know.

Larger tires often make the factory rake more noticeable. A buddy of mine has a 2001 reg cab w/ camper & plow prep packages that he put 315/75R16s on, otherwise the truck is stock, and the rake is a lot more noticeable. I had the same experience when I put 255/85R16s on mine.

Don't know about the "bags. " Maybe he did, but when you mentioned it, it did have that "chevy" look, I know exactly what you are talking about. It was a diesel though, I'm sure. As for the tires, I think they might have actually been smaller than the ones I usually see. Didn't get a pic, and now I'm 4 hours away, so I guess I'll just hope mine doesn't look like that when it gets here.
Thanks guys

UKRugbyman77,
Are you sure he didn't have air bags on the back?
Was this a diesel, V-10 or V-8?
It would be hard to lower front end with Cummins under the hood. I Don't know how low the oil pan is on the V-10 or V-8. The oil pan would determine how low you could drop front end. Maybe he is trying to make it look like chevy 4x4. #ad

If it is a diesel I think he have to raise the back end to make it look as you said. I also don't think camper package will make truck look like that.
Take a picture?

It doesn't matter wether or not you order the camper package, both trucks are going to sit the same height. The auxilary spring pack sits ontop of the main spring pack... . the aluminum spacer that goes between the main spring pack and axle housing is what changes the ride height.

its a 3/4 ton truck my boy , i have a 2000 2500 4x4 and it sits higher in the rear , stock suspension w/CS , stock tires LT265's , i think the 4x2's are the same way , its the nature of the beast #ad

edit , i just noticed you have an 01 4x4 , yours doesn't ??? maybe it has something to do with the wheelbase , mines a QC short bed , i can't say i've notice it on the QC LWB

Not sure about the statement that with or without CS they ride the same height.

See sig. My 97 4x4 camper special rides higher in the rear, and the larger tires does up the effect. I see lots of 2500 4x4's around town that ride close to level. I always assumed that they were not did not have camper specials. -- According to my mopar book, the camper specials came with overload springs and the rear swaybar, the others dont. And the overload springs along with the additional spacer account for the additional height. My Opinion.

I also think the CS models look uglier with all that height and the stock 245 tires. Too tall and skinny for my taste. Larger tires make the rake noticable, but I think it looks better.

One last note. It takes the entire tongue weight of my 28' travel trailer, loaded just to get it to ride level. About 1000 - 1200 lbs. Can even several hundred pounds of gear under the canopy. -- This thing is really made for 2500#-3000# campers in the back. The only way I can see even coming close to sagging this thing.

Oh oh... . How about the 8800# kit. Are all 2500's rated for 8800# ? Or is that the camper special? Same thing or two different things?

8800# "kit" ? All 2500 Diesels are 8800# GVWR. Camper Special is irrelevant.

Regarding the rake: my non-CS 2500 (see sig) has a very noticable one. Stock tires and suspension.
