I am getting ready to do some routine service work on my '01, but I have yet to really find out what antifreeze to use. I have had a couple of mechanics tell me different things, so I am up in the air.

What is the best thing to use and where do I get it? I can't just use the Prestone from Wal-Mart, right? What is the best way to completely flush out the system or can it really be done?

I know that I need to pull the radiator and clean it... I have that blow-by tank full and overflowing. What is a good cleaner to use on my radiator?

Thanks for the info, people... :D

Well, I just used the Prestone from WalMart. It is the recommended type and Prestone is an excellent brand. I also use distilled water from WalMart. I have never had trouble with Prestone over 40+ years.

I have used shell ecl premix since new. truck now has 390,000kms. listed to be good for 1,000,000 kms. I changed it at 325,000kms. was still very clean, removed the thermostat and filled there. noticed that there was no corrosion or scale in the head. there are several brands of extended life coolant ,fleetgard, texaco etc.

If that is the case, that is my buy.
