The only way I knew I had a bad lify pump, was when I changed the fuel filter. The pump wouldn't fill the filter container back up.

I hvae read here that a bad lift pump = lost of power and bad fuel milage. Well, the tank before I replaced my pump, I got 22 MPG and had great power (for a stock truck).

I think the only way to really know for sure is to put a gauge on it and test it at idle and WOT.

If you find that you have a bad pump and are under 100,000 miles, take it to the dealer to have it replaced. I have double checked this with a TDR member that works at a Dodge dealer and it is covered under the 100,000 mile warranty.

If you are over the 100,000 mile warranty, go to a Cummins parts counter and get it there. Cummins $139, Dodge $414.

Hope this helps.
