What are the chances of getting recall work done now that 17 yrs have past... :--)

Dear Ross:

Thank you for contacting the Chrysler Group Customer Assistance Center

regarding recall information for your 1989 Dodge Ram.

Our records indicate that the following recall campaign has not been

performed by an authorized Dodge dealer.

RECALL ID #280T DIESEL ENGINE COOLING ISSUED: 10/03/1989

I am guessing it is the thermostat casting issue. I'll find out for sure. The head is not stamped like it should have been if the issue was addressed properly. I am not very optimistic about the local "Stealership" handling this one...

I dought if they will eather.

If it was a NTSB recall it would be done with no questions. There is no age or milage limit on a NTSB recall.

My ol' Blue 90, now Scott's pride and joy, had a severe paint peeling problem. I bought her used in 94, and went to a dealer sometime around 97 or 98. I was told that if I had brought it in within 6 years, they would have corrected the problem. But as it was, I was fecally out of luck.

The moral of the story is that certain problems are PROBLEMS and others are only problems.
