Since I was in such a hurry to get my gauges in and do some mods, I never checked the EGT's while the truck was stock. I was just curious to know how high you guys have had them on your stock trucks.

Well I would imagine a bone stock truck with a CAT would get atleast 100* warmer due to the restriction, but when I bought my truck the exhaust had been replaced already no CAT but a horribly restrictive muffler. I never towed, but could not get EGT's over 900. Now a great part of this is EGT's would drop once I got to 2200 RPM because of the stock governor springs, so I would guess just having a 3KGSK on my truck would have gotten to about a thousand which isn't even close to worry about melting anything.

Bear in mind you have a 160 pump, so to compare what EGT's a 215 truck has stock is probably inaccurate. My comparison should be a lot closer since I have a 175 pump but a 5 speed usually keeps EGT's lower compared to an auto.

I can get my truck over 1250-1300 if I'm pulling a steep long grade. I just hold the pedal to about 1200-1250 and let it do it's thing.

Just hit 1110 tonite, no load, preturbo, winding out 5th gear on a 6 speed getting on the hiway. had to back off before redline due to going way to fast. .

Will be hooking up the 10k fiver in a week or two, and then we will se what the normal trip I take does to her. . Like the gauge, very informative. Can't believe I waited to get it in.

Stock Egt's

I've seen just over 1250 pre-turbo stock @ 105 mph  These heads just don't flow well over 2500 RPM :(
